We provide good quality information via articles, regular posts and video. At Fighting Fish Breeding we want to share our knowledge and create a source of information that everyone can share and enjoy based on this fantastic little fish.
It’s hard to imagine that the now splendid Fighting Fish were once a rather dirty greenish brown color with smaller fins and tails. Fighting Fish originally came from Siam (now Thailand) where they use to live in the paddy rice fields and drains surrounding these agricultural areas. Children used to collect them up and use them for fighting, to determine who the village "champion" should be. Later adults caught onto the competitive nature of the Fighting Fish and they began to be bred exclusively for fighting.
If these little guys can survive and breed in these conditions then you can certainly breed and care for fighting fish in your own home. All you need is the right information. It’s not difficult to set up your first fish tank, decide which breed of Betta is for you and what is required to look after and feed them. Then after a while when you find out that you can actually keep one for longer than two weeks without it dying, you may want to look at breeding them yourself. It is very satisfying to have created your own little fighting fish. Contrary to popular belief it is not difficult to keep your Fighting Fish happy, healthy and strong. All they need is a good tank environment, some basic home comforts and a stress free life and they will give you years of pleasure. If you start planning on how you are going to keep your Fighting Fish, before you bring them home, they will thank you for it. Just imagine breeding your own fighting fish for profit.
